You don’t know anyone truly until you step into their shoes and walk around in them. Let’s step into the shoes of both George and Lennie. George is a normal guy who works hard. He just wants to make it month by month. Lennie is George's friend since they were young. He is mentally challenged but is nice and doesn't really know his own strength. They go to a new ranch for work in california where the travel and there are some interesting people there to greet them. In this ranch many man are there but there is only one woman, Curley’s wife. After a few days Lennie is offered a pup of one of the guys on the ranch. He plays with it too hard and kills it. In the same scene he is found with the dead pup by Curley’s wife. When he explains he likes soft things but killed the pup on accident she lets him touch her hair. When he won't let go she starts to panic and he holds he to try to make her stop and he breaks her neck on accident. Lennie runs because he knows he’ll be in trouble, and candy finds her. He calmly tells George knowing who had done it. Curley and the others find her soon after and get together to go kill Lennie for doing it. George goes to find him first. Right from the beginning George knew that Curley would be a problem for Lennie because of Curley’s enjoyment for picking fights with bigger guys. Lennie does as George tells him and tries not to do anything to make Curley mad or have a reason to pick a fight with him but even then Lennie still ends up breaking Curley’s hand when he tries to fight him over Lennie laughing slightly. When George realizes that Lennie is the one to kill Curley's wife he knew he had to beat Curley to Lennie because Curley would kill him but try to make him suffer while he did it.
