In George Orwell’s, Shooting an Elephant, Orwell had to make the decision of whether or not he should shoot an elephant. While patrolling as a police officer in Burman, Orwell was called to the scene of a destructive elephant in musk. The people of Burma mocked Orwell because he was a white officer in a predominantly Indian environment. They were rude to him because of how Britain was their imperial leaders. Later, Orwell found the body of a man that the elephant had killed and he requested for a rifle in case he had to shoot the raging animal.
