Big Brother is Watching Even in France Years after 1984, in 2015, it is still possible to find in France the same system -called Big Brother- of controlling a population as the book 1984 in order to keep this population weak enough and thus avoid any acts of rebellion by some form of video surveillance, newspeak, or media corruption. Big Brother is a person or a group of people who are controlling a population. Well known for a long time. The book 1984 is about Oceania, a country where Big Brother rules their own system by controlling the thoughts and acts of the population. In Oceania, and in France, we can find many example of this system. The book is a good illustration of many example of controlling a population that is still find in our day, in France. Taking control over a population by cameras, for example, permit to apprehend any risks of rebellion against the government by people who dislike and do not accept it in the book 1984, or risks of accident, in France. Cameras, or telescreen are a big part of the book 1984. Telescreen used by the government to watch, know and heard all about the population. If a person watches the new every days, choosing a channel will probably give him a point of view with the same way as the channel without really knowing it. For example, the channel “France 1” is politically in the so-cialist side, and people who watch it will hear almost everyday something about their politics’ opinion and how they like it. Those viewers will probably unconsciously accept it because they hear something good, remember it, and use it latter as argument.
