On January 10, 1864 born in Diamond, Missouri George Washington Carver was born into slavery on a small plantation owned by Moses Carver. Carver, son of Mary and Giles Carver, then went on to become a renowned botanist, chemist, and scientist. George Washington Carver played an important role in African-American History because he was one of the most well known botanist, chemist, and scientist in African-American History, he went on to speak about how all raced could live in harmony, and he created many uses for soybeans, peanuts, and sweet potatoes to help advancing farming by helping poor southern farmers get money to grow better crops. From 1923 to 1933 toured white colleges for the commision on Interracial Cooperation This passage from www.biography.com says “Carver developed many uses for smaller less valuable crops like soybeans, sweet potatoes, and peanuts such as milk, plastics, paint, dye, cosmetics, medicinal oils, soap, ink, wood stains, molasses, postage stamp glue, and so on which are worth much more than the crops itself. This means that he was an important asset for poor southern farmers by helping make many uses for soybeans, sweet potatoes, and peanuts. These are very small, less grown, cheap crops and by him making uses for them he further advanced farming by helping out the farmers by raising the price on these crops by inventing many uses
