An interesting news report that I read was about the inauguration of the first black mayor of the city of Chicago. At the time he was known as the Paramount Politician. This year was 1983, and his name was Harold L. Washington known for his strong speech. In our ethnic diversity, we are all brothers and sisters in a quest for greatness, he was running for mayor at a time when Chicago was still widely segregated. This is one of the things that he wanted to do to try to change the city of Chicago.
George Washington made a bold decision for his Farewell Address to be an open letter of advice and warning to the American people for their long-term pleasure and security. Washington himself spoke of a nation with great unity. He had faith in the prosperity of the citizens, but was weary of the dangers of such a young republic. The overarching theme of his address was the preservation of the union. During this, we warned against the dangers of sectionalism and claimed that the connection between the Union and the Constitution must be cherished.
After two years of presidency, George Washington refused a third term in 1796 and resigned from office, eager to return to his home in Virginia and farm. He did not leave office without offering advice to his successors; rather, he delivered his consultation in the form of his Farewell Address to the nation. The document was published in newspapers across the United States to be read by Americans nationwide, and it is still read in Congress annually. In his Farewell Address, George Washington encourages Americans to follow many core principles after his presidency, many of which are not in practice by Americans today. One of the values Washington espouses in his Farewell Address is the importance of sentimental values and patriotism.
It is very easy to take out country and or freedom for granted. For those of use that have always lived here and never seen anything different it is almost impossible to to fully realize how good we really have it. We were not given anything we have today however, it took an extreme amount of hard work and dedication by the leaders of our past. It is impossible to discuss how this country achieved what we have now today without talking about George Washington. Our first presidents, the man who really pulled our country together and helped lay the ground work that we still live by today.
This statement is key because it displays how religious principals and characteristics promotes the protection for property, reputation, and life. Furthermore, without religion and its obligated principals, people will most likely abandon oaths, which are significant requirements in the justice system. Moreover, Washington wanted to express that if the people have integrity, honor, and commitment then they will be able to understand the meaning of respecting the laws and justice system. Moreover, one of McDougall’s main purposes throughout is to show that unilateralism was not isolationism, which in fact never existed. “Our vaunted tradition of ‘isolationism,’” he states, “is no tradition at all, but a dirty word that interventionists, especially since Pearl Harbor, hurl at anyone who questions their policies” (p. 40). That the term functions as a smear (and a proven method of forestalling debate) is true enough. But it is hard to see how Washington’s doctrine can be equated with McDougall’s unilateralism.

For my speaker and speech analysis assignment, I chose JFK’s inaugural address speech. I chose this speech because I think he has an interesting story and with this speech, he inspired a great amount of optimism and patriotism in America. It is often considered one of our country’s most important speeches. In my analysis, I will be focusing on JFKs background, and many aspects of his speech including his delivery, organizational, persuasive and rhetorical techniques.

George Washington and Barack Obama had different views about how America would be like. On April 30, 1789 George Washington gave his inaugural speech and oathed to be the first president of the united states. On January 30, 2009 Barack Obama gave his inaugural speech. Because of his positive standing with his fans and many other baseball players, Gehrig was able to utilize effectively ethos throughout his speech. Ethical proof is dependent upon the rhetor’s reputation among his audience and other people; for Gehrig, his reputation was one of a hard-working and determined man and so his audience already held favor with Gehrig.
In his inaugural speech given on January 20, 2001, George W. Bush address the country for the first time after being sworn in as the 43rd president of the United States. Millions of people from around the world tuned in to watch the president give his address. The people who voted for and against him are both wanting to hear what the president has to say. George W. Bush gives an effective inaugural address by using biblical allusions, collaborative language, and an anaphora in order to unite the country after a contentious election. Bush used biblical allusions to appeal mostly to the evangelicals who were listening to his speech.
