Geothermal Informative Speech

Howdy folks. Today I am going to teach you about a renewable energy source call geothermal energy, the heat of the Earth. The first thing you should know is that geothermal comes from the earth and it is a clean and sustainable resource, and its availability ranges from shallow ground to hot water and rock. Currently Indonesia has the biggest geothermal energy resources in the world. Since you can get heat from hot water, some things in our environment use it directly, like buildings for example. Some good things that geothermal has to offer are that it is environmentally friendly, does not produce pollution, it does not require fuel needed to be powered and is not weather dependant. Some cons are that the biggest areas for geothermal energy …show more content…

Shallow ground in Earth’s surface or upper 10 feet have a 50 and 60F temperature and geothermal heat can pump tap into this resource to be able to change the temperature of buildings. The pump system is worked by a pump, an air delivery system or ductwork and a heat exchanger-a-system of pipes that are buried in shallow ground near the location of the building, and in the winter, the heat pump will remove the heat from the heat exchanger and pump it to the indoor air system, and in the summer, it is reversed and when it removes itself from inside, it can be used as extra hot water. In lots of places around the Earth’s surface they are hot, dry rock resources that occur 3 to 5 miles everywhere beneath the Earth’s surface and at lesser depths in some areas, and access to these resources requires cold water sent down a well, then circulating it through hot fractured rock and drawing off the heated water to another well. To this date they are no commercial applications for this type of tech but existing tools can not recover heat right from the magma, a.k.a the most powerful thing in the universe. No, actually it's the most powerful resource for geothermal energy to date. Magma gets rained on for over thousands of years and produces steam, which is collected through production wells which go into the power plant to power turbines which make electricity. Now many types of tech are being made to
