In “Gerardo no Last name” by Sandra Cisneros the author is saying that immigrants are not important, How they are nobodies. Gerardo represents the negativity immigrants face in the United States on a daily basis. Geraldo was an immigrant in the United States who faced the tragedy of being involved in a hit and run after a dance which sadly ended with him passing away. He was last seen dancing with a woman named Marin. She was a pretty and young woman who had met Geraldo while dancing. Even though she was pretty and young she was still evil. When she was asked to help identify Geraldo, Marin seemed ashamed to have been with the guy. She explained how he was “just another brazer who does not speak English.”(Cisneros) This supports the claim because it showed the negative feelings she felt about Geraldo since he was an immigrant.
