Yoel Gebrehiwet Chief Red Jacket was a Native American chief of the Seneca Tribe. He often was a spokesperson for his people, encouraging the white people to accept Native Americans as worthy and equal. In 1805, Red Jacket gave the speech “Rejecting a Change of Religion” in Buffalo, New York. He spoke to a group of white missionaries who wanted to convert and baptize his people as Christians. Chief Red Jacket tactfully rejected this offer and persuaded the missionaries to see his people as equals through tone, word choice, and reasoning to decline the offer of switching religions.

My fellow classmates assumed I was asian because of how I looked and teased me to the point of tears. In reality, I am of Guatemalan origin.
El Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), a Mexican celebration, is a day to celebrate, remember and prepare special foods in honor of those who have departed. On this day in Mexico, the streets near the cemeteries are filled with decorations of papel picado, flowers, candy Calaveras, and parades. It is believed that the spirit of the dead visit their families on October 31 leave on November 2. In order to celebrate, the families make altars and place ofrendas of food such as pan de muertos baked in shapes of skulls and figures, candles, incense, yellow marigolds known as cempazuchitl (also spelled zempasuchil) and most importantly a photo of the departed soul are placed on the altar.
I remember as a child being told these absurd stories that had been passed on from generation to generation, Myths if you will. Where there were so realistic and full of detail that I too began to start thinking it could possibly be true, but I didn’t want to put that illusion in my head that it was all true. Some of you may know me and some of you may not, but I am Clementine Forest one of 3000 women suffragists who has marched here today, the largest march ever occurred, for the cause of women 's suffrage. I am here to represent and express the importance of women receiving the right to vote. Unfortunately, the London weather wasn 't on our side with the presence of heavy rain throughout our march from Hyde Park to Exter Hall, but this reinforces that nothing will stop women from protesting their right to vote. As you know we have been gathered together as one, today on February 9th, 1907, the day in which Parliament is open once again for the coming year.
