Personal statement My ultimate goal is to complete the Doctor of Nursing Practice; Gerontology program with the University of Kansas. Furthering my nursing education on a continuum is a lifetime goal of mine. I am motivated by knowledge and educating others, which makes furthering my education a priority. As a Bachelor of Nursing graduate, I will be able to increase my knowledge base and continue to educate others on changing healthcare issues in our diverse community. In addition, this education will enhance my ability to increase positive patient outcomes along with furthering my career opportunities. Community outreach and gerontology are my passion. I am confident the RN to BSN program at Kansas University will give me the competitive advantage in these areas and any other area I choose to pursue. Some people say there are some that are born into their profession. This rang true for me as I was growing up. With my Great-Grandmother, both Grandmothers, and my Mother working as RNs, I knew nursing was what I wanted. The stories that came home from all of them intrigued me from a young age. This would include nursing processes, policies and procedures, along with laws and regulations. In my family we all were taught to pursue innovative thinking and strive to make things better on a continuous basis. I am analytical by nature, which gives me the ability to identify weaknesses and strengths in many situations. This results in innovative ideas to creating, improving, and planning patient care.
