When I was 5, I would play in the woods with these beautiful animals. I would act like the animals so the animals could come and play me. Now I can’t because there are these White people who settled in our peaceful world. We had good hunting, good land, and a good life until they came along. Now, I’m 12 years old and I, Luta, am a small boy who lives in the Sioux tribe in South Dakota. In this tribe we speak the Siouan language. When the Europeans came over and tried to talk to us, no one knew what they were saying. So when I was going to bed I had to make sure I had enough clothes to keep me warm. “ Come inside and get you some clothes so you don’t freeze in this cold December,” I said. “ Well let's go!” Anna said smiling a little. I got her clothes and it was getting dark out, so our tribe had another fire. We got to the fire our tribe was the other Sioux tribe were doing the Ghost Dance. I went to find my Dad to ask him about the dance. “ If you do the Ghost Dance ceremony would reunite spirits of the dead with those of the living, and the power of these spirits could be harnessed in battle with white settlers and the US Army,” my dad informed me. “ So, how long does the Ghost Dance last,” I asked. “ About five days the Ghost Dance last,” my father noted, “ Do you want to dance and sing with me?” “ Am good,” I told my dad, “ But me and Anna are going back to the tipi and go to bed.” Me and Anna woke up to the singing of ghost dance. For the last five days me and Anna didn’t do the ghost dance. We help around the land. When it was night we just went to bed listening to the tribe singing and dancing. The second to last night me and Anna went for a walk before we went to bed. When we walked out we saw the Indian police walking towards the fire and calling out for Sitting Bull.
