Gianna's Argument Against Abortion

“After eighteen hours of being burned in my mother’s womb, I was born in an abortion clinic in Los Angeles, California on April the 6, 1977” (Jessen 1) this is how Gianna came into this world she was “born alive during saline abortion.” “Doctors did not expect me to live but I did” ( Jessen 1) she survived even though no one wanted her. Many people don’t know, but sometimes babies can live through abortions, and this is one of these stories. Gianna’s Jessen mother tried to abort her when she was seven months pregnant,but then survived after being burned and suffocated in her mother's womb for eighteen hours.There should be laws against abortion because unborn babies are living, should have more rights, and only a small number of babies are aborted because of rape.
An unborn baby is alive, just the same as other humans. There is medical evidence that shows “between three and four weeks after conception, an unborn-child's heart begins to beat” (Waltman 1). If an a unborn child has a heartbeat,shouldn’t that mean they are alive too? “During week twenty of the second trimester, fetuses are capable of feeling and recoiling from pain” (Waltman 1). When Gianna Jessen was testifying in the House Judiciary Committee hearing on Planned Parenthood on September 9, 2015, she said if she could ask Planned Parenthood one question it would be, “If abortion is about women’s rights then what were mine?” (Jessen 1) She brings up a very good question. If abortion is about women's rights then what are the babies? Where was her right to life,since her mother decided to kill her? Most people don’t know but if a pregnant woman is killed,it is considered double murder because the life inside of her has the right to live just like her.
