“More weight,” Giles Corey says before his few last breaths in The Crucible. Giles Corey is strong-willed by his choice of saying neither “nay or aye” when being questioned about witchcraft. He has many characteristics that I can relate to throughout the play. Giles Corey and I both share the characteristics of being strong-willed, stubborn, and loyal.

Giles Corey's’ wife, Martha Corey, reads fictional books which claims to disrupt his prying. Martha Corey soon becomes a victim of the witch trials and is accused of witchcraft. Giles Corey shows his loyalty to his wife when he pleads against the court that she is innocent. I relate to his characteristic of loyalty because I am also loyal to my family. For example, if my Parents tell me I am not allowed to go somewhere or do something, I won’t do it because I know they care for my safety. One time there was a concert happening in Pittsburgh that I really wanted to go to, but my dad didn’t want me to go. He felt it was unsafe because at the time there was a lot of terroristic crimes happening at concerts and public places.
Being strong-willed, stubborn, and loyal are all characteristics that I share with Giles Corey. We would do anything for our loved ones and principles even if it comes at a great cost. I would take action if something was wrong along with Giles Corey. Giles Corey risked his life because of his loyalty to his family, his stubbornness, and strong-willed personality.
