All throughout their journeys both heros come across situations that make them show who they really are and what they believe in. Although certain aspects of their leadership, journeys and personal beliefs are similar the way they display themselves in their personal and public lives make many of their characteristics differ from one another. The leadership styles and qualities of each character helps to define who they are as a person and what they believe in.
Man and God's Relationship The Epic of Gilgamesh and In the Beginning have many similarities. Both incorporate the Hero’s Journey and three archetypes: character, situational, and symbolic. Both are about man's relationship with God(s), including man’s struggle with temptation, and the serpent as a symbol.
In conclusion, Gilgamesh and Achilles are considered some of the greatest of warriors. There are many similarities and differences between Achilles and Gilgamesh. As discussed before both Gilgamesh and Achilles had a quest that they desired. The only difference between the two is the certain desire they wanted to obtain.
As long as a villain exists in a story, there will always be a heroine. So, you might ask, how exactly is a heroine defined by people? A hero according to the English dictionary is someone who possesses a courageous and honorable spirit, but also a person who has attributes, abilities, or unique characteristics that make individuals look up to them. With this in mind, throughout the many epics we have read so far, there have been several heroines such as Gilgamesh, Rama, Sita, Achilles, and Hector, but Gilgamesh and Achilles are the two characters in these epics that are extremely alike and different in so many ways. In particular, Gilgamesh and Achilles were both prideful and full of themselves alike in that matter, but they both were different in affluent power and overwhelming strength, which made them a heroine to fellow humans because of their superhuman abilities, high personal relationships, and great influence over people.
Gilgamesh and Thor are both extraordinary heroic characters. The purpose of Gilgamesh’s quest was to gain fame, knowledge, and immortality. Thor on the other hand, wants a world that is peaceful and free of wrongdoings and he will go to any measures necessary in order to gain peace for the people of the world and for the world to be free of wrongdoings. Both Gilgamesh and Thor were different in many ways, yet similar in others.
In the “Epic of Gilgamesh” and “The Odyssey” by Homer, all the gods are portrayed as being very near, and having a very close relationship with the mortals. The authors showed this through their interactions, even though each epic portrayed a unique mode of interaction between the gods and the mortals. For instance, in the “Epic of Gilgamesh,” this interactions are mostly indirect, whereas in Homer’s Odyssey, they are direct. Another thing the authors tried to show is that the gods are limited in their powers, at least some of them. The authors portrayed this through the gods favoring or disfavoring certain mortals.
In comparison, it’s always observed on how different scholars find the similarity of especially marital settings, characters, and as well as the wanderings of the mythological world. Different events within the life of these characters cover broadly a huge range of epic encounters that are heroic. The character, emotional and psychological development of Gilgamesh can be borrowed especially from the ancient heroic perspectives of mortality and death while comparing with Achilles. The heroes in the two epic poems The Epic of Gilgamesh and Beowulf are very similar in terms of their values. Beowulf in the poem Beowulf and Gilgamesh in the poem The Epic of Gilgamesh are the two main characters. The two men possess great physical strength unmatched by any man from the ancient or middle period.
Gilgamesh is a powerful yet emotional king. Gilgamesh shows his weak side by saying “I have wept for him day and night…” After this he remains an epic hero in my opinion. The text states he went on a great dangerous journey and survived and killed the guard of The Cedar
Throughout history epic tales have been told about heroes attempting to explain various occurrences such as the ones in the Gilgamesh and Beowulf. Gilgamesh and Beowulf compare and contrast in beliefs, their leadership styles, and the journeys they go on. Although both Beowulf and Gilgamesh can be compared to each other, because of their opposing locations and personalities, they are contrasting to each other. Beowulf and Gilgamesh leaderships styles, although very different, do have some similarities. Both Beowulf and Gilgamesh possess great physical strength, and courageousness as leaders of their respective cultures.

Action is expressed in both of the books: Iliad and Bhagavad-Gita. Action has a similar meaning to both Achilles in the Iliad and Arjuna in the Bhagavad-Gita; however, it also has its differences to the two characters.
Everybody likes rooting for a hero. And throughout the evolution of storytelling, from stories written in stone to those in tablets, heroes have always played a huge role in the stories we tell. As literature evolved, and more legends and tales began to appear in different cultures, the idea of a traditional epic hero was established. Stories like "The Epic of Gilgamesh," and "The Odyssey," set the mold for this type of heroes, an influence that can clearly be seen when analyzing literature. In fact, most of these characters, regardless of the time and place they were created in, shared similar characteristics to the two kings.
In Homer’s ancient work The Iliad, there are many forces of leadership at work, both strong models and poor examples. The two focal leaders in The Iliad are Agamemnon and Achilles. Both these characters exemplify leadership, but in drastically different ways. Agamemnon is immediately recognized as an authority because of his political standing; he is the leader in all technical meanings of the word. However, on Achilles part, it is his character and actions that earn him the recognition of a leader.
