To begin an epic poem includes a strong warrior and leader which would be Gilgamesh himself, who demonstrates courage and takes risks . The narrator is the compelling confident speaker who tells us that Gilgamesh takes a long journey to fight Humbaba, and shows his triumph in battle. Furthermore Lord Shamash helps Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is an epic hero because in Part 1 he takes on the long journey along with his friend Enkidu seems to be Gilgamesh's adviser.
