Nowadays, majority people have such a stubborn prejudice against adolescence. It is even depicted in all kinds of media that adolescence is such a catastrophic period which is full of conflict, danger and bigotry. Parents would purchase various kinds of instructive books from biology to psychology in order to help themselves deal with their own children. And it is not surprising that we would hear rumors going on in the neighborhood that telling about some runaway teenagers and suicide kids. It seems like adolescence is an inevitable war which requires all parents get ready with. However, I really doubt those educationists and parents’ reactions towards adolescents. “Gilmore Girls” is a TV series talking about the daily life of Lorelai, an unmarried mom, and her daughter Rory. Rory is a 16 year old adolescent, who went to a private high school. Unlike being portrayed as unreasonable teenagers in some movies, as an adolescent, Rory is compassionate, respectable and also ambitious, for example, she spent much time studying and doing assignments. Teenagers will experience differences from being little kids in various dimension, for example, biological changes like the onset of puberty will lead to development in body shape and secondary sex characteristics, which will cause social interactions in a more adult away and expectations for teenagers to take more responsibility. Also the development in prefrontal frontal cortex during adolescence will help teenagers to take everything into consideration before decision making as prefrontal brain area is responsible for executive function, morality and also personality.
