~ Wally the Green Monster ~
A friendly monster named Wally once made his cozy home in a section of Boston called The Fenway. But knowing that some people were scared of monsters, he would rarely venture out from his front door. Little did he know that he would be one of the most loved mascots in the MLB! Or even all time! Although, some people may argue that Wally isn’t qualified to be a part of the Mascot Hall of Fame because he doesn't stand out enough, but we disagree because, his design of character is memorable, he is involved in his community, he has multiple memory moments, he gets very involved with his team, and he is youth focused.
The first reason Wally the Green Monster should be in the mascot hall of fame because he is named after the iconic Green Monster at Fenway Park. He also has a family, his sister is named Tessie. As a general rule people like families, especially mascot family. In the article Costume of Wally the Green Wally the Green Monster it states that “he has his own Wall were people can leave nice and positive notes.” He also goes to the stadium and finds the biggest Red Sox fans and takes pictures with them and post them on his Instagram. For instance, he visited the Golisano Hospital of Southwest Florida and MassGen Hospital for Children to see all of the sick kids to bring them joy “hospital”. Also according to his Facebook page, he visited Thayer Academy to honor Jackie Robinson’s 99th birthday with students “Jackie Robinson’s Birthday” . As a general rule, every mascot should support their community in any way they can.
