Girls in the Marines

Intro- There are a great number of high school students who struggle with deciding their next steps after high school. When it comes to boys wondering what to do after, they are usually told to join the military, but when it comes to girls, military isn't the first alternative that they are told if they also don't have concrete plans after high school. This lack of encouragement is one of the many reasons the military, specifically the Marines, has a very low percentage of women. The Marines must meet certain criteria in order to attract high school girls into joining. The marines have been seen to be one of the greatest military branches to join due to their high standards. For this reason female high school students should consider joining the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps was created in the year 1775. It is only a subsection of the Navi, but has become considered to be its own branch. Although it …show more content…

This is one of the reasons to discourage female high school students from joining. The Marine has been known for being able to satisfy the basic criteria that female high school students seek for after graduating. One of those first criteria is being able to create change. According to SSgt Willams “Always having a female recruiter in every office help a lot in encouraging female high school students to join the Marines” (Bahena Alvarez). Having a female recruiter has not only encouraged a lot of male students but also a great number of female students too. This has helped create a cycle of women joining and encouraging more women to join. This with help with pushing for growth in the future for any female high school student wondering if joining the Marines is a great option when they are stuck in between having to quickly choose their path of career for their own
