“You 're too big…You need to get the surgery done.” These hurtful statements are things my mother has said to me, whenever I ask her if I can be a model. Hurtful? Yes. Are those really her words? Probably not. I can’t blame her when she is easily influenced by society and their standard of “the perfect body.” Society and the people around us shape the kind of thoughts we say and think. I 'm not saying it wouldn’t be nice to see how it would feel to be thin, but am I really missing out? Girls Inc. is the one place I can go and be myself. The one place where I 'm not "too big". Girls Inc. has taught me how to be confident and fearless, and take risks head on. Girls Inc. has instilled my devotion to adhere to my utmost potential as a strong, smart, and bold scholar. The importance of pursuing my dreams and never giving up on what I believe in. Because of my Girls Inc. staff, Ms. Millie and Ms. Andie, I’ve been able to attend amazing events at Google.
