According to merriam-webster.com, the definition of glass ceiling is “an unfair system or set of attitudes that prevents some people (such as women or people of a certain race) from getting the most powerful jobs”. As many people know, women tend to get paid less when referring to corporate and/or office jobs; being a colored woman, I wanted to be stay informed on the topic and changes that can possibly occur to break this glass ceiling. Therefore, I went and sat in on a lecture that took place on October 14th lead by a representative from the campaign, All In Together. The All In Together campaign is a collaboration-driven campaign to empower women with the tools they need to drive meaningful change. Something that would not come to mind right away is voting; which is the first way that a woman can have her voice count and be heard. Another simple yet impacting way that a woman can make their voice be known is sitting in and speaking at town councils. Being a woman figure that people in your town can look up to is giving that woman so much power as is. The more power a woman has the more the glass ceiling can be broken. The way a female student can work her way to breaking the glass ceiling is by taking a course in the political field so that she is more informed and can make a change that way. The con that comes with a woman taking a politics course is, the males in the room might judge her whenever she feels the need to speak up which can lead her to discouragement. If men were more informed on how serious some women are when it comes to politics and the work place, then there could be a step taken forward to breaking the glass
