Global warming is a gradual increase in the temperature of earths atmosphere, usually attributed with the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is caused by the interaction between Earths atmosphere and radiation from the sun. Global warming is a problem of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This carbon overload is usually caused when we burn fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. Their is a big argument between global warming being a real, dangerous occurrence or not. First off I will talk about how global warming is a problem with humanity. Next I will be talking about how and why people think global warming is not real. Then I will talk about my opinion. There is many reasons why people believe global warming is a real, and a …show more content…

As the water gets warmer it takes up more space, each drop of water takes up more space so it makes the sea level rise. Sea level is also rising because of melting glaciers and sheets of ice are adding more water to the oceans. Over the past 100 years the average sea level around the world has risen about 7 inches, if people keep adding greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere the average sea level around the world will increase anywhere from seven to twenty three inches higher than it was in 1990 by the end of this century. Sea level could also rise even more if the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica melt faster. The sea level rising is a threat to the people who live near the ocean on low land because there will be more floods and the people who live on land lower it might even be submerged. As Earth gets warmer plants and animals that live in cold areas like mountain tops, or the arctic might not be able to live in the heat. Up to one-fourth of of all plant and animals could become extinct in the next 100 …show more content…

Greenhouse gases are trapping more heat in the Earths atmosphere which is causing average temperature to rise all around the world. Temperatures have risen during the last thirty years and 2001 to 2010 was the warmest decade ever recorded. Heat waves are becoming more common in some places included the United States. Heat waves happen when a region experiences very high temperatures for several days and nights. If people keep adding greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere at the current rate, the average temperature around the world could increase by about four to twelve degrees Fahrenheit by year 2100. If we make big changes like use more renewable resources, instead of fossil fuels, the increase will be less, about two to five degrees Fahrenheit. Heat waves can be dangerous causing illnesses such as heat cramps, and heat stroke, or even death. The increasing air temperature also affects the oceans, weather patterns, snow and ice, and plants and
