Dolores Clara Fernandez Huerta was born on April 10, 1930 in Dawson, New Mexico. Huerta is an American labor leader, civil rights activists, and was the co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association. Huerta’s father, Juan Fernandez, was a miner and a farm worker and later became the State Assemblyman of New Mexico. At an early age her parents divorced. Huerta lived most of her years with her mother, Alicia Chavez, and two brothers in Stockton, California.

Many people loved Selena for her singing, she was very talented. Selena Quintanilla was born April 16th, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was raised by both parents, Marcella Samora and Abraham Quintanilla.
Selena Quintanilla was a young, beautiful, and well-loved singer, that became the Queen of Tejano and I want to know how she got her success and the honor of becoming the Queen of Tejano and how she was murdered. The Queen of Tejano was born on April 16, 1917, she was a Texas girl. She matured into a young adult with her father. Her father had a band and at age 10 she was the leader of the band. Selena was a talented young woman.
Anzaldua’s use of pathos and anaphora in her speech helps communicate the idea that women of color should have the same ability, as white woman, to write. Gloria Anzaldua is trying to influence women to no let oppression stop them from speaking their minds. Anzaldua believes there are people who are able to see into the future, but do not see; others are able to speak, but do not; others have ears, but do not listen. These kind of people shouldn't be listened because they make assumptions of themselves, and only put ideas on people’s minds. For instance, Anzaldua is making the point that woman should be able to make the reader understand and feel emotions throughout their writing, “You are the truthsayer with quill and torch.
“ If you have a dream, don’t let anyone take it away and always believe that the impossible is always possible. ”Selena Quintanilla was basically telling all of her fans to dream big and to never give up in any circumstances. Anything is possible but if you put all your effort in it. Selena listened to her own advice, she became what she always dreamed to be, and she accomplished many things before she died. Selena Quintanilla was an important figure in the Hispanic society because she was a Latin American who lived here in the United States facing all the changes in racism, but overall she became a very successful famous singer.
Throughout the reading by Gloria Anzaldua, we as readers, get to view the way she lived and to relate with the text. Gloria was born in Rio Grande Valley of South Texas in 1942. When Gloria was at a young age, she was shamed and embarrassed for the way her voice sounded. Growing up, she was told, “If you want to be American, speak American, if you do not like it, go back to Mexico where you belong” (Anzaldua 2). When she was told this it made her very upset.

Gloria Anzaldúa’s “La Prieta” tell her struggles with identity by talking about prejudices she dealt with while growing up. These prejudices, such as colorism, sexism, and heteronormativity, were not only held by people outside her social groups but within them as well. Anzaldúa goes on to explain the way identity is formed by intersecting factors and not only one aspect of someone’s life therefore denying one factor of identity can cause isolation and self-hatred. The fact that Anzaldúa developed faster than is deemed normal the first struggle in forming her identity.
