In my opinion I think that the United States joining the war on the side of England, France, and Russia in April 1917 was a bad idea. I think this for three main reasons. My first reason is because nobody but President Wilson has a say in the war. My second reason is who gets the money and benefits from the entire war. Finally, my last and final reason is because overall we weren’t really ready for the war and we kind of brought it upon ourselves. My first reason for why we shouldn’t have gone into war is because nobody besides President Wilson has a say in when we go to war. But even though he is the only person that really has a say in when we go into war somebody pressured him into saying that we should go into war with France and England. The bankers are the only people that gain money. In fact they were the one that forced Wilson into going into war. They are the only people that are getting the money. The people at war don’t make a lot. And the people at home have to work twice as much to support the people at war. (Document 2, p. 1) Also the people that also get the money are the people on Wall Street or part of the stock market. They get the prosperity and already in possession of more wealth that can be enjoyed. Meaning that the rest of the country that isn’t very wealthy won’t benefit from the war. I think that they will actually will be harmed because while the rest of the country is at war they have to work extra hard to help out with the war. For example they have to work in the factory to make the weapons and supplies for the war. (Document 2, p. 2) Finally, my last example is that we are only entering the war for the command of gold or that we are just going into the war for
