Background of Interviewee
I had the opportunity to interview my grandmother. She’s a 74 years old, African American woman. A mother of 3 and a grandmother of 5. She hasn’t worked in the past approximately 20 years due to health issues.

Summary of Interview
1. What changes did you encounter during menopause?
• Started around at 50 years old. Witnessed mainly hot flashes.
2. Why might a woman welcome menopause?
• The best thing was no period; and you cannot get pregnant.
3. Do you see any health relations with you compared to other African American women?
• No; I believe that race has nothing to do with health issues; I know that scientists would disagree, but I don’t think this is a fact. The average women go through things different.
4. Did you have a routine that incorporated exercising?
• No. As I got older, I had a harder time doing anything.
5. What type of sports did you like to play in?
• Softball, baseball & basketball.
6. Has exercising decrease as you got older?
• Yes. This is because of health reasons, such as, my arthritis.
7. Are there any diseases that have come into your life?
• I’ve had hepatitis, pneumonia. As a child, I had measles, mumps and chicken pox because growing up the vaccines were not
