In the films ‘Good Will Hunting’ and ‘Battle Royale’ it is evident that both characters face a challenge with their own respective obstacles. At the end, though the characters find out who they are and who they can trust. In this paper, I will be presenting the Laswell Model, Blumer’s theory, and the Attribution Theory. With these theories the reader, will have the tools necessary to understand the movies’s significance, the way they relate to each other, and have a better comprehension for the characters’ decisions and the outcome of the stories. What this theory basically needs that a person 's actions produce a certain reaction from someone. In ‘Good Will Hunting we could see this when Skylar asks Will to move to California with her. Automatically Will put up his defense wall up and starts to block himself from her. Due to previous experiences Will does not generally trust people. This produced a reaction from Will that Skylar was not expecting. Since Will was left as a child, he has grown to have commitment issues with people ,because just like his parents the people will eventually leave as well. That is why Will’s reaction is pushing people away when they try to get close to him. In ‘Battle Royale’ this theory presents itself is with Kitano-sensei. Kitano-sensei was the previous teacher of the class that is on the island. The students used to treat their teacher without respect and was once cut with a knife by a student. After that Kitano-sensei quick being a teacher and was not known of until the game. Throughout the game the teacher held a grudge with every student but one.
