Google, Inc., Where is the company most vulnerable, from a communications standpoint?
Answer:
In today’s business world, organizations are constantly seeking to increase their share market. In order to achieve this goal, firms are interested in infiltrating their services and products around the world. This strategy allows organizations to develop a well know reputation that is recognized worldwide, thus increasing the opportunities to grow and be successful. Google is a technological organization that has a mission to “organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful” (Lao, 2012). Due to the high demand, the organization assumed that it would be easy to expand their services into other markets, however, they encounter several obstacles specially when they tried to connect with China. “Chinese Internet censorship is arguably the world’s most severe” ( Warf, 2011, p. 8). This was one of the major obstacle of Google in the Chinese market. “The Chinese government gave all Internet search providers operating in the country a difficult choice: Either censor results deemed ‘objectionable’ by the government or do not do business in China” (Argenti, 2013, p.19). This conditions requested Google to go against their own policy to allow every individual to be fully informed of everything that is happening around the world. Other organizations like Yahoo and Microsoft were already competing under this regulations, thus putting some pressure on Google’s decision. As know, pressure from others can be a dangerous force that make individuals question their values and belief, making them act in contradiction of their faith. Organizations should keep their faith and allow it to be guidance
