Jonas Castellon September 17, 2014 Period 4 Swindle Gordon Korman Character Analysis The main characters in “Swindle” are Ben Slovak, Griffen Bing, Darren Vader, S. Wendell Palomino, Savannah Drysdale, Antonia Benson “Pitch”, Logan Kellerman, and Melissa Dukakis. Ben Slovak is a kid who is a short and small boy who suffers from a sleeping disorder and is Griffen’s best friend. He si a main character because he in fact is on the team. Griffen Bing is a boy who is Ben’s best friend and is known as “the man with the plan”. And his family is on the edge of going bankrupt. He is the team leader. He makes the plans work. Palomino rips off Griffen and Ben when they try to sell the Baseball card of Babe Ruth. When Griffen hears on TV that the Baseball card they sold to Swindle for only twenty-five dollars was worth roughly two million dollars. Griffen goes berzerk. He wants his card back, but he only way to do so he must assemble a team to steal back his card and get rich. Summary Griffen Bing is The Man With The Plan. So when he finds a Babe Ruth baseball card in an abandoned house, he immediately sells it to help solve his familys financial problems. S. Wendell Palomino who owns Palomino’s Emporium of Collectibles tells Griffen that the card is a fake and buys it for twenty dollars. Just a couple of hours later Griffin sees that Palomino advertising the unique card for over a million dollars. After learning Griffen has been cheated he comes up with a plan to steal back what has been rightfully his. His first attempt was a bust. Once Ben breaks inside of Palomino’s collectible store he finds that the card is not in its case and it is missing. After realizing that the card must be at Palominos house which he now calls Swindle he recruits classmates that have specials skills that he can use to break into Palominos house before he sells the
