Gordon James Ramsay was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland on November 8, 1966, in Renfrewshire, Scotland. His father was a man with no profession and his mother’s name was Helen Cosgrove who was a nurse. He was a middle child. His early life was filled with abuse and neglect from his father who was alcoholic and womanizer. His life was football before he found his love for cooking. His heart was set on a career in professional sports namely soccer/football. He joined a pro club called Glasgow Rangers, but his sports career didn’t last because he had a knee injury. Since his sports career was permanently over, Gordon went back to school and earned his degree in hotel management in 1987 at North Oxfordshire Technical College. After getting his degree Gordon’s first head chef position was at Wickham Arms. Gordon then went on to work with or trained under Europe’s top chefs. First, he worked for Marco Pierre White at Harvey’s in London it was here that Gordon decided he wanted to study French Cuisine. More great news came in 1995 which is when Gordon Ramsay was awarded Newcomer of the Year at the Catey Awards. After Aubergine’s finical backing became unstable and Gordon wanting to branch out on his open he ended decided to leave. Which he then opened his restaurant named Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 1998 in Chelsea, London. His restaurant quickly received the most prestigious award in the culinary world – three Michelin stars and it all happened in just four years.
