I have a unique background that would benefit the Gordonstoun Junior School, including my years of experience working with international students in the USA and Africa. As a Slovak immigrant, I had the opportunity to study, travel, and work in many countries. I have a Bachelor’s of Art (BA) degree in International Studies with a focus in European History and a Master of Science (MS) in Historic Preservation with all projects focused on European/International history and the historic environment. My passion for history and Scottish history in particular started while I was working toward my bachelor’s degree and continued to stay with me. Including my senior thesis projects focusing on the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Clans. Throughout my assistant teaching journey, I have also taught students skiing and tennis as an independent coach from the age of 5’s to adults. I conducted small group and individual classroom activities based on differentiated learning needs. I assisted in promoting memorization of key facts through reading and storytelling assignments. I implemented original programs to encourage student participation. As a professional educator, my efforts extend beyond academics. I worked hard at instilling a sense of school pride, building community awareness, and motivating students to set higher standards. My focus was to give my students the knowledge and understanding of the various factors that have shaped the world in which they live, and to be aware of the heritage and historic environment around them.
