The Gospel of Matthew: The Gospel of Matthew has a main focus on the teachings of Jesus. Matthew is the most organized of the Gospels. It is arranged into seven different parts. When each section is closed, Jesus gives a long sermon that restates the teachings learned in that particular section. These long sermons show that the author is placing emphasis on Jesus’ lessons throughout the entire Gospel of Matthew. Some of the most important verses in Matthew include The Sermon on the Mount, The Mission Sermon, The Sermon in Parables, The sermon on the church, and the Eschatological Sermon. The Sermon on the Mount announces the core components of Christian beliefs. The Mission Sermon states that more teachers and preachers are needed and it empowers Jesus’ followers. The Sermon in Parables emphasizes Jesus’ irritation with the fact that many people do not follow his message. The Gospel of Mark is organized into two sections. The first section is focused on the ministry Jesus did in Galilee. It begins with John the Baptist announcing the arrival of the chosen one. The second section emphasizes the story of Jesus’ forecast of his own sorrow, as well as his crucifixion and resurrection. Mark’s gospel is consistently emphasizing that the end of the world is coming soon. This made certain passages hard to interpret for early Christian communities since the end of time never came. The Gospel of Mark is very harsh on Jesus’ disciples. It talks about how they increasingly fail to understand him. It also shows how two of his disciples betray him and, the rest completely leave him, and in the end he is killed all by his lonesome.
