In my early Secondary days, I found Maths as a difficult and boring subject. My teacher picked interest in me because she saw I had the potential to excel in me. She decided to start teaching me from scratch how to love and enjoy Maths. By my final year in Secondary school, when I wrote my West African Exams, I won the award for the best student in Maths after achieving A in my Maths result. This then led to my zeal for Maths as a subject. My elder brother was struggling with his Maths exams, I took out time to teach him and when the West African Exam was released, he achieved distinction. He now sees Maths as fun and comprehensible. My University degree was in Management and Accounting which has helped me in developing strong Mathematical and analytical skills. Also with my Masters in Business Administration Degree, I have acquired specialist skills required to pursue a career in teaching. My ambition is to become an inspirational Maths teacher who can enhance students’ attitude towards the study of Maths. Before I relocated to Uk from Nigeria, I organised private Maths lessons for 6 secondary school students wishing to sit for their West African Exams out of which 4 had distinction and 2 had credit. I love working with young people because I value the opportunity of inspiring them to take interest in something that will benefit their lives in future. In Uk here, I have attended seminars and training which includes understanding and working as a team, planning and organising effectively, relationship building, mentoring, giving and receiving feedback. All these skills I believe are vital for a successful teaching career. I am also a very good listener with excellent written and spoken English skills which I believe is also important in the teaching
