Having lived in the Philippines most of my life, I have always been curious about the part of me which I have yet to fully explore and embrace. This yearning is so deep-seated and it compels me to set aside my complacent life in the Philippines and pursue my academic and professional dreams in Japan to grow further as a person and as a citizen of the world. My desire to learn more about my Japanese ancestry has motivated me to apply to the School of Global Japanese Studies at Meiji University. I have chosen this school because it focuses on Japanese studies that emphasize the areas of culture and art, business and society, and globalization. I believe these platforms will serve as stepping stones that will help me immerse myself in the culture and to recognize the role of Japan in the socioeconomic dynamics of the global community. For a short period of time, I had the opportunity to live in Japan and study middle school there. This experience was my initial immersion in the Japanese language and school system. I see myself more prolific in the area of Business and Society. This vision is driven by my ambition to make a name for myself in the world of international business. I see myself working for Japanese multinational companies, building business relations with people of diverse backgrounds, and to be working my way up the corporate ladder. To attain this goal, I am motivated to acquire extensive knowledge of the social-political-economic dynamics that operate in small and large communities in Japan.
