It is with great pleasure that I am applying for admission to pursue an Advanced Certificate in Digital Media Design for Learning. My ultimate goal is to one day create enrich learning experiences across various settings, focusing on producing programs that instill in children the passion to learn. I’m Listening with Dabdoop was a phonological awareness prototype for an application utilized to stimulate listening skills in Arabic-speaking preschool children predisposed to the risk of dyslexia. This application includes a variety of activities and games that may assist in determining if any phonological weaknesses exist. Though my thesis began as an idea for my MFA, I’m hoping to make it a truly enriching and functioning learning experience for native-Arabic speaking children, driving positive change in how dyslexia is identified and treated at an early stage. Despite the fact that the highly diverse nature of assignments and projects I’ve been involved in has helped me gain a wide exposure to visual design, it has not been possible to obtain an in-depth knowledge of instructional multimedia.
