After they escape, the severity of feud increases. The two families grow angry after this occurrence and begin to brutally fight one another. After Sophia and Harney run away together, the two families engage in harsh conflict. Here, several people face their demise, one of which is Buck, a boy that Huck has grown to be somewhat friends with. After Huck sees Buck die, he walks to his corpse and covers his face to show respect towards him. With this, Huck leaves the Grangerfords behind him and continues on his journey.
