Grant Fuhr -About Grant- Grant Fuhr was the first black goalie to get into the NHL. He played on the Oilers' team and was an amazing goalie! Grant is Afro-Canadian and is currently retired. He was born in Spruce Grove Alberta and was adopted by a family that put him into hockey. His biological parents were Afro-Canadian and Cree. Grant proves to be an amazing goalie andis in the top 100 hockey players! He also had an amazing 4304 minutes played and 40 wins on top of that! -Struggles and triumphs- Grant has won 5 Stanley Cup championships with the Oilers. His most famous quote is “If someone runs into me again, someone is coming with me,” since his knee got torn. -Quote- One of his quotes was “He ran over a few people, nothing major. Mess runs over people. Sometimes, they don’t get up. That’s life” which is much deeper than what I am going to get into but I relate to this because there are times where you just wanna give up on something. For example learning a new instrument or drawing. For me it was drawing, I gave up on drawing for a year or two because I felt I wasn’t good at it. I was encouraged to start again and that gave me the confidence to start and now I am better than I ever was! -Conclusion- In conclusion Grant Fuhr was one of the greatest goalies to ever be in the NHL and the first black player in the NHL. He got into the hall of fame with 5 won Stanley Cup championships. He is a big character in the NHL and I assume to other hockey players and hockey goalies. He played for a long time and retired at the age of 38 with many accomplishments but also many injuries. He played for the Oilers.
