Introduction – 45 to 60 seconds Audio Tori is writing her very own graphic novel about the life of a quirky middle school student. She wants to illustrate how less popular students navigate through their school day. She is hoping that the graphic novel will discourage bullying by painting a sensitive portrait of those who stand out as different. Before she began, she took the time to learn a little about telling stories and how they should be written. One of the things she learned about was the importance of a great plot. The purpose of a plot is to tell a story. The events of a plot are unfolded in a series of five episodes called the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. He went to school that morning in a good mood, expecting to celebrate his birthday later that evening. School that day was a nightmare. An argument with a classmate turned into a fist fight. They were both suspended. Later he returned home to the worse news ever. His father got into a car accident on the way home from work and was in the hospital. After that gripping climax Tori included the falling action which detailed the aftermath of his birthday, and the events that lead to everything being resolved in the end. Even when Joshua selects books to read from the library, he tends to go with trilogies so that he can enjoy a longer story. Basically, what Joshua loves is a great plot. The plot is the series of events that makes up the overall story. You can’t have a story without the plot. Joshua is not the only one in his family that enjoys a great story.
