Let’s take a look at the film Grease by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. This film is a musical revolving around the lives of teenagers in love. It’s set in the 50’s and follows the life of high school seniors at they each find love, and struggle to find their true selves in the process. In this film, the major dramatic question would be, are Sandy and Danny going to find themselves in order to be with each other, regardless of what their friends think? Now as the film progress we can see the characters do their best to meet the needs of the other. Eventually Danny and Sandy find their true selves and no longer worry about the cliques at the school. At the very beginning of the film, and even before it started the inciting incident was when Danny and Sandy met each other on the beach. We can see this in the acts that Sandy and Danny commit in order to be with each other. They change to what they believe they truly are, not to what others think they are. The climax of the film is seen at the very end, the last day of school when both Danny and Sandy seem to change their appearances for the other. Then when they lay eyes on each other, they realize it is not the looks or groups that you are a part of that make you who you are. The denouement is simply them flying into the sky together while driving their car. When watching the film Grease by Randall Kleiser (1978), there were many things that bothered me. First of all, the actors seemed way to old to be high school seniors. (And I would know, because I am one). Two the film seemed to end too quickly, giving me no time to realize a resolution.
