Within these montages are close-ups of anxious facial expressions, as well as flashbacks from Gatsby’s life which are reflective of the tempo of the music. Music can play a critical role in the success of a movie trailer. In the article, “The Role Of Music In Motion Picture Advertising And Theatrical Trailers: Altering Music To Modify Emotional Response And Genre Expectation,” Strobin’s connection between music and emotion in trailers can be applied to that of The Great Gatsby trailer. As discussed in the article, “[m]usical elements (e.g., tempo, rhythm, pitch) can give rise to various emotions without cognitive processing[,]” suggesting music to be a less obvious tool for creating an experience for the audience (3).

The social interactions of the movie Grease 1978, are some that have been happening for decades, and still to this day exist. These kids take what society tells them, which is that people from different walks of life should stay within their social status, and stay with their own kind. The well known phrases ¨grease is the word¨, and ¨what team? Wildcats¨ emerged decades apart, yet from almost the same movie. With a twenty eight year age gap between the movies Grease and High School Musical, there were bound to be some differences in the way the characters handled their problems. The leading characters, also called protagonists, Sandra Dee with Danny Zuko and Gabriella Montez with Troy Bolton are influenced by their respective time periods and how women are . Set in the 1950’s; a period often viewed as one of conformity, Grease's, Sandra and Danny portrait traditional gender roles; she desperately craved his approval (evidence).
1. After viewing the documentary and listening to each song by Rodgers and Hammerstein the song that made the most impact on me was the song “Some Enchanted Evening.” The song consists of very smooth and romantic melodies. Due to that I am a hopeless romantic I really enjoy the song lyrics and melody. The song was very catchy that I ended up singing the song for the rest of my day.
Grease, a very well-known and largely popular musical with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as the main characters. It’s a Romance about how Danny (John) and Sandy (Olivia) meet over the summer and fall in love, but when summer is over they find out they go to the same school and are in very different social cliques. The rest of the movie is how Sandy changes herself to stay with Danny. While it is a very popular movie, it also has many issues in how it portrays stereotypes of gender and sexualization and a lot of the sexiest generalization and issues can be found in the lyrics of the songs. First off is how the actors are dressed and how there looks are portrayed.

Tracy Turnblad, an overweight teenager, finally gets a spot on the “Corny Collins Show”, a teen dance show she has always dreamt of being on. She is disturbed when she finds out the “Negroes” are allowed to dance on the show occasionally. She fights for integration despite being bullied and mocked.

Typical high school experiences are taken and magnified in this movie. The regular school dance was intensified and stakes grew due to the live broadcasting from “National Bandstand”. The exaggeration of a typically normal event allowed Grease to demonstrate what goes on in high schools on a more transparent and obvious level. In the same regards, the sleepover scene did the same thing. Taking a normal occasion and amplify it reveals the most basic experiences that a high school could potentially face.
