Discuss the exchange of architectural ideas between different cultures.
The history of architecture all over the world is replete with examples of the influence exerted by one art upon another. The culture of every nation is affected by the earlier civilizations and the one’s neighboring it. This essay examines the architecture of the Turkish civilization under the ottoman rule and discusses the ideas incorporated from different cultures and their evolution concentrating on key building types. Surely like other civilizations Ottoman is no exception from the exchange of architectural ideas.

Persians marched from East towards Greece and were tracked back by the armies of Alexander. Under the Roman Empire the region became a colony to the empire and after the fall of the empire it became a Byzantine Empire. The Mongols attacked the region but due to the lacking skills of organization were forced to withdraw eastwards. The Seljuk Empire came into rule with clashes with the Byzantine and finally the Ottoman Empire established which later dissolved the Byzantine. Each of these civilizations brought with them the art and style to the region all of the early civilizations contributed to pre-Hellenic art and style which is the base of the Hellenistic style found in Anatolia. The early Christian art and architectural style found in Anatolia, Syria and later the Byzantine civilization came from the Hellenistic and native art. The Persians brought the building technique with them. The Seljuk’s incorporated the style of the central Asian people and the Buddhist forms and applied it to Islamic structures. The Turks came to the region from the east and with them they brought the influence of the
