The Greek Gods In Greek mythology, the gods are the supreme rulers of the Earth. But they were like humans in every aspect. They had feelings and could be deceived. Many people in Ancient Greece thought that natural events were caused by the gods, this belief gave us moral lessons that we can use everyday. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hermes were thought to be some of the gods that interacted with the humans the most, in doing so they are the most famous in many heroic tales.

The son of Cronus and Rhea, this god is also known as the Earthshaker, because of his ability to make Earthquakes (Hamilton 23). His wife was Amphitrite, a granddaughter of the Titan, Ocean (Hamilton 23). Poseidon was an important god to the people of Greece because they relied on the sea for transportation, food, and trade, this made Poseidon highly worshipped, and the people hoped that in all this praise he would protect the sailors that set out to sea. Poseidon also had a palace under the Sea, but he spent most of his time in Olympus (Hamilton 23). He gave horses to man, from which he made from Sea foam. The god Poseidon demanded that the bull be sacrificed to him, but Minos thought it was such a fine creature that he decided to keep it for himself and sacrifice another animal in its place. The gods were angry, and decided to punish Minos by making his wife Pasiphae fall in love with the bull. Mad with desire, she sought the help of Daedalus, who created a mechanical cow in which she could hide and approach the bull.
