Heroes are brave, unselfish, and well respected people in the community, in Mythology by Edith Hamilton she talks about Greek heroes who were respected by common people but had the strength of gods. The story of Theseus is a great example of someone who is respected by the community but had god like powers, and he used his godlike strength to help along his heroic journey. After proving himself to his father, Aegeus, king of Athens he was to sail off to Athens to claim Aegeus as his father. Theseus being the brave and courageous man wanted to prove he was a hero and sailing off was too easy to prove himself, so he decided to walk to Athens. Knowing it was a long and dangerous road Theseus didn’t mind there were bandits that riddled the streets
