At Western Michigan University, there are many micro-cultures. One particular micro-culture I want to belong to is a sorority by the name of Delta Sigma Theta, incorporated. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913, 103 years ago, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is the largest African-American Greek-lettered organization.
I chose to write about the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. because I am very interested in the history. I have heard many things about the African American Greek life and I want to learn more. I feel that being on campus here at Oklahoma State University, I need to take advantage of the African American organizations offered here in Stillwater. Not just yet, as a freshman, am I going to pledge for anything
Explain your interest in joining Phi Delta Epsilon-MA Alpha Chapter. * I want to join Phi Delta Epsilon because it would provide me the chance to build lifelong connections and gain networking opportunities. Most importantly, I see myself forming a bond with other members, studying and sharing memories of what it’s like to be a premedical student at UMass Boston. The ability to connect, strive for success and learning from others with the same goal to attend medical school is what I’m truly seeking as a hopeful applicant of PhiDE. Joining the fraternity is the beginning phase of my strenuous road to become a successful physician.
In Sigma Kappa, I found a sisterhood full of girls who truly are examples of excellence. I remember looking up to Taylor Haynes and even Kat Gillanders for their leadership around campus, and the level with which they carried themselves. I am proud that the girls of Sigma Kappa can walk around UGA without people thinking “look at that trashy sorority girl”. A big role in this is what the Standards Council does. It is important to have a program to steer college students in the right way when they start to go down a negative path.
“Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise, I rise, I rise.,” to become a Delta Woman. When asked to express why I should be awarded the honor & pleasure of being apart this great sorority; I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed but also very humbled. However, I am reminded of the great women Delta Sigma Theta has helped mold some of the most influential women in the world. I want to be apart of the most illustrious sorority organization.
Speech for NJHS Induction Ceremony Good evening students, faculty, and family members! Thank you, Mrs. Reece and Principal King, for inviting me to this year’s National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony. Students, tonight we honor your achievements in the areas of Scholarship, Citizenship, Responsibility, Community Service, Character, and Leadership as we recognize and celebrate the choices, and at times the sacrifices, you have made. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it."
During the 5th century B.C., Greek technology and colonization of the Ionian region thrived. It was in this period of expansion that ostracized citizens from the city-states of Samos and Chios colonized Greekopolis. The founding figures Cyrus and Hypatos were sent from their respective colonies of Samos and Chios with a group of settlers in order to establish a port polis on the western coast of Asia Minor. The main purpose of the polis was to create an independent trading city on the western coast of Ionia, and also to utilize the surrounding fertile land and climate for vineyards. Cyrus imported aims from Samos, a city-state known for its production of wine from the arable hills nearby.
Alpha Fraternity on campus, they are always walking with their heads held high, attentive and ready. They are the people that you want to look up to in society. For example when Alpha Phi Alpha members do things such as, help paint a school or help out at a soup kitchen, they are being good roles models to the community. I want to be someone that other people look up to. I think that it is imperative that we as young African Americans set a good example for the younger black children growing up today.
Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship.
To the women of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated: The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. My desire to inspire young men and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. While growing up at a young age my mom worked out of my sibling lives. I did not have many positive female role models I could look to for guidance in different situations.
It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
They will meet friends of a lifetime and gain new sisters. The sorority will be a great support system for many girls away for the first time. The process is tiring and overwhelming. In the end, dreams will come true and bonds will be made that will last a lifetime. Being apart of Greek Life is one of the decisions individuals can make in
In reality, sororities and fraternities are much more than that. Sororities and fraternities are good for community service involvement, on average have a higher GPA than non-Greek life students, is a good networking that concludes to future job connections, results in lifelong friendships, and provides leadership development. Many interpret that joining a Greek organization is just like joining a group of partiers. Those
Dear Whom it may concern at Alberta Education ??? Intro I am writing this letter to show all the benefits of keeping greek mythological in the grade ten curcicull. I would like you to consider all the the points that will be further made before making any decision that could change the course of how we, the students, view the world. This one decision will impact not only our grade but all the future grade 10s therefore change the future generations thinking and that may not be for the best.
Fraternity members tend to believe that they have the intelligence, and self- control necessary to succeed. They are known to be well- organized and they like doing in routines and schedules. They also keep lists and make plans. The results as shown in table 2, there were 16 (57%) fraternity members have low levels in emotional stability.
