Similarities between Greek Mythology and Hindu Starting with both the religious beliefs lets point out holy books for both the religion. So for Hinduism the holy book is BHAGAVAD GEETA which contains 18 chapters which teaches us how to live life, the ultimate truth about life and much more. During the war of MAHABHARAT (one of the greatest battel in the history of Bharat) lord informs Arjun the third son of pandav that the system of yoga, the Bhagavad Geeta was first spoken to the sun god, and sun god explained it to Manu, and Manu explained it to Iksvaku , and in that way by disciple succession one speaker after another , coming down this system of yoga. In other words people also describe lliad as Song of Ilion or Song of Ilium. The book is based on the battle and the events during the battle of king Agamemnon and Achilles. It tells about the battles and events during the quarrel but it only covers few weeks of the final year of war. Now Odyssey is one of the major ancient book and a sequel to the lliad which is the work ascribed to Homer. All the events described in the odysseus taken place in Peloponnese and in which is called currently as Peloponnese of lonian islands. Told to Phaeacian, the wandering of odysseus and locations of own island of scheria, pose more fundamentals problems. There are many similarities among different mythical characters of different epics. I dont know whether they are same or related to each other. Same thing is there in Mahabharata and Trojan war. I wonder if our mythology is influenced by theirs or theirs by ours! I guess we used to live in the same area and now we had different versions of same epic.
