At what age do you think a person is considered an adult. I believe that the right age is 18. 18 is the right age because it is the right age for people to find jobs and start careers for themselves or they can go to school for a better job in life. Greenblatt argues about the different laws around america. Such as “a 20 year old marine can not join the local police force until turning 21, and a 20 year old college junior can not buy alcohol or enter a casino. Even though they are far more educated than most americans. Some people may say that 18 is the wrong age for drinking , but I think teens will disobey the laws no matter what. There is teens who drink now. Some Colleges allow their students to drink too. Most studies show that teens …show more content…

They note that binge drinking on campus is rampant despite the stricture, and argue that if students were given the rights to drink at an earlier age, they might handle it more responsibly.” I think that Greenblatt is right because less and less college teens would heavily drink if they were exposed to it earlier and would know how to be responsible with it. If the age was turned down to 18 then teens would not feel the urge to binge drink it. I think teens like feeling the rush of doing something that they know is not good. They got to decide when they were 18. If being an adult is 21 then people would have a 3 year gap on doing nothing. Once they got out of high school they would find a job and never get an education. They would feel comfortable and not be pushed to get a higher education. Some people might counter argue by saying that people could still got to college at 18. Although this could be true teens do not want to go to college and not be considered an adult. If they go to a far college from home they would have no car to drive to get them to school. This would be very effective towards teens to not pick out of state colleges. We would see a decrease of out of state college applicants and teens would not be able to do anything if they are still considered a minor. If they keep the age of 18 we would see the usual education routes which is fine. Some people feel like education is a waste and they get a job and some people feel like an education leads to better jobs and a better job leads to more money. Both these things are true. This give teens options on what to do with their life. If they don't like the route they chose they could always drop out and get a job or they could apply for a college. This
