Franz Kafka’s novella, The Metamorphosis is a story all about Gregor Samsa and his stressful life. Gregor hates his job but has to keep it for about 5 to 6 more years, because it’s his responsibility to pay off his father's debt and tend to his family. The story starts off like this, Gregor awakes one morning, and finds himself transformed into an unhuman like body. “…a horrible vermin. He lay on his armor-like back, and if he lifted his head a little he could see his brown belly, slightly domed and divided by arches into stiff sections.” (Page 93, Lines 3-4) From the details given, it’s inferred that he was transformed into a beetle of some sort.
