Gross Rosen concentration camp was a Nazi German network of Nazi concentration camps built and operated during the World War II.Most of the Jews came from Poland and Hungary. The prisoners were employed primarily as forced laborers in the construction of the camp.The Jewish prisoners of Gross Rosen were distributed among fifty sub camps.There were sixty thousand Jewish prisoners deported to Gross Rosen. The camp was originally established in the year 1940.

Several hundred Jews had been prisoners in Gross Rosen between 1940 and 1943.The first of January,1945 the Gross Rosen camp had 76,728 prisoners. About nine thousand survived in 13 of the 20 subcamps. The Nazis began evacuating Gross Rosen on the very end of 1944.The satellite camps were liberated by the Red Army on the 8 and 9 of May 1945, with large number of survivors.

Food caused the death of many prisoners. The Jews were registered and given new prisoner numbers. The prisoners were evacuated by the foot. Some Jewish prisoners were forced to take their clothes and remained from six in the afternoon until noon.
