This was especially important for businesses, since they are and always will be about time and money. The railroads became one of the key elements in the national transportation network for people and products, since railroad tracks could be built almost anywhere and rapidly.
he Industrial Revolution overall had a positive effect on happiness in the workplace, village space, and resources for workers. The first example that shows it was positive is that the children were happy and had never been beaten in work. According to the 3rd document it says “They seemed to always be cheerful and alert” this tells me that it was positive because the children never got beat and they were always happy and cheerful to be at work which could cause better work ethic. Another positive thing is that in the village they were given more places to stay and they were fed and clothed.

Can you imagine living in the 20th century without any roads, railroads, and canals when trying to travel somewhere? These different types of transportation helped impacted the American society between 1815 and 1860 were road, canals, and railroads. These forms of transportation have helped the American society in the 1800’s and continued to evolve in the America it is today. The transportation revolution made traveling easier.
Transportation Revolution The transportation revolution is believed to have begun in 1807 when the government seemed it was going to become active in growing infrastructure. The treasury secretary, at the time, Albert Gallatin was asked to develop “a plan for the application of such means as are within the power of Congress, to the purpose of opening roads and making canals” (W&R). This plan was not to happen and throughout this revolution the government was only responsible for a few projects. Without much government aid, entrepreneurs took matters into their own hands, creating competition.
The Industrial Revolution, which took place from the 18th-19th centuries rural societies in Europe and America became industrial and urban. Before the Industrial Revolution manufacturing was often done in people’s homes, using hand tools or simple machines. Industrialization created a shift to powered machines, factories and mass production. The iron and textile industries, along with the steam engine, played certain roles in the Industrial Revolution, which also saw improved ways of transportation, communication and banking.
In 1694, Thomas Savery invented what would revolutionize the united states indefinitely, he called it the steam engine. This invention lead to the first steam engine locomotive which many would say was a beneficial turning point in the industrialization of america’s economy,allowing the steam engine to be used on the railways. Although the railroads did impact the United States and certain groups in positive ways,there were also negative effects that occurred. During this time period, there were many chinese immigrants that entered the United States who made up most of the workers that built the tracks.
Industrialization played a big part in the shaping of American society. This time period was considered the "Gilded era " from 1869-1901. There were both cultural and economic changes during this time, such as the transcontinental railroad, businessmen, the depression , and the living conditions of the lower class. The transcontinental railroad produced an increased demand in manufacturing since the businesses would now grow and trade in larger amounts.
In a time after the Civil War, when a transcontinental railroad was created connecting the East and West, people began to move and settle across the country, creating new urban cities and manufacturing hubs. It was because of the railroad that the Second Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age took place which rapidly increased the manufacturing of products through the new machines in factories and the spread of ideas by the telegraph and railroad. It was in this context that many farmers, as well, began to move West and experience a loss in the prices of their crops. It is also in this context that many workers were forced to work long, laborious hours with little pay. Farmers responded to industrialization in the Gilded Age by forming organizations such as the Granger movement and the Farmers Alliance as well as creating the Populist Party.
Before industrialism life moved slowly and there was little change. However, during the early 1800s, things started to change quickly. New businesses formed and there were new inventions. Also, The period of rapid industrial growth during the 1800s and into the early 1900s was more harmful because there is poor health care, unsafe working conditions, and lots of pollution. Working conditions were bad result of industrialism.
Between the year of 1865 and the year of 1920, the United States moved towards becoming a more industrialized and developing society. With this change taking place, resulted in improvement with how people live with family and earned money differently. The three major aspects of industrialization during the 1865 and 1920 that influenced the politics, economy and society of the United States are: entrepreneurship, technology, as well as transport and communication network. Entrepreneurship: the period after the Civil War from 1865 to 1920 was characterized by fast economic growth in the country.
The building of roads, canals and railroads played a large role in the United States during the 1800s. They served the purpose of connecting towns and settlements so that goods could be transported quickly and more efficiently. These goods could be transported fast, cheap and in safe way through the Erie Canal that was built to connect the Great Lakes to New York. Railroads were important during Civil War as well, because it helped in the transportation of goods, supplies and weapons when necessary. These new forms of transportation shaped the United States into the place that it is today.

Before then, America 's population had mostly lived out in the farms and ranches of the country, but that was about to change when more and more people started to move to the cities for work. Most of the people that moved, found themselves in factory jobs for the steel industry or alike, or working for the railroads. Companies could really thrive, as the United States government, adopted a policy of Laissez Faire. This is also about the time that immigration really kicked up, more and more immigrants were showing at Ellis Island, looking for a new start.
All of which I have used in my lifetime and will continue to use. Vehicles are a requirement to my regular daily existence and on account of the steam engine I am able to travel from one place to another, visit family, friends, and go to school. Besides travel, transportation allows trade between people and countries, deliveries of every sort and imports and exports of various items. All of which are regularly a part of my life.
