Mindset What exactly is a mindset? Well, according to Cambridge Dictionaries, a mindset is “a person’s way of thinking and their opinions”. There are growth mindsets and fixed mindsets that are both unique to themselves. Everyone has their own experiences with both of the facets of a mindset. These experiences are something to look back upon and they allow us to assess situations in the present. In the present for me is college and the growth mindset is a very important factor when it comes to success in college. With the knowledge that a mindset is a way of thinking one now must figure out the difference between a growth and fixed mindset. These two mindsets are quite contrasting when one thinks about it. A growth mindset is it all about progress and learning. People with a growth mindset believe that they can learn from their experiences and grow with their newly learned information. People with growth mindsets see themselves as a process, as if they can only get better. As for a fixed mindset it is the opposite. …show more content…

Meaning that they think that they cannot become good at something they are currently bad at. If someone with a fixed mindset comes across an assignment and they either fail or it is just difficult, then they will quit. They quit instead of being inventive or trying a new method. This type of mindset can be very damaging to a person, because it does not allow for growth. Without growth or development people would never have made the type of incredible discovery’s that we have made to this date. I personally believe that the people who discover crazy medicines and the people who are inventors are people with growth
