Gryphon Writing

It all began with a cough. Then multiple coughs. Mr. Hibbler had to leave class and Mrs. Ferenczi came as our substitute teacher at Five Oaks. Mrs. Ferenczi looked unusual. Something like pinocchio with marionette lines and a “chignon”. This was from the point of view of Tommy, The main character of this text. The text Gryphon is written by Charles Baxter. This text is about an absurd substitute teacher, Mrs. Ferenczi, and the main character tommy who defends her in the end of this text.

At the end of the text, Mrs. Ferenczi pulled out tarot cards. One student got the death card. She told him that he will die early. But what she really meant was ”Change”. That student told the principal and Mrs. Ferenczi had to leave. Tommy saw Mrs. Ferenczi and got in a fight with that student and supported Mrs. Ferenczi. Why did Tommy support Mrs. Ferenczi? Tommy supported Mrs. Ferenczi because Tommy believed what Mrs. Ferenczi says. All the stories that Mrs. Ferenczi told were true to him. Like when Mrs. Ferenczi told about the flying angels on Venus. Another reason why Tommy might’ve supported Mrs. Ferenczi is because he likes her support. When Tommy was taking a spelling test and he couldn’t spell the word balcony, Mrs. Ferenczi supported him by saying,” I don't like that word either.” That is what why Tommy supported Mrs. Ferenczi. …show more content…

The author titled the text Gryphon because the author wants to show how unique Mrs. Ferenczi is. Mrs. Ferenczi is a different type of teacher that tells unusual myths like when she told about the flying angels on venus and a half lion half eagle called a Gryphon.
