After doing research, Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena was a “Mexican engineer who was the inventor of a color-wheel type of color television, and who also introduced color television to Mexico.” (admin 1) That seems like a grand accomplishment that I want to discuss and explain to readers or my classmates. After reviewing the small portion of information on him he seems to be an interesting topic and someone who influenced Hispanic technology history. Minorities are not always acknowledged for their accomplishments that shape society today. Appreciating the efforts, time, and resources used to create these well-used inventions can expand the mind. Son of Arturo Gonzalez and Sara Camarena who were from Arandas, Jalisco he built a basement laboratory. Guillermo was innovative young man and by seven he showed his talent by creating all kinds of electrical toys. His older brother Jorge was a well-known painter, muralist, and sculptor. He had an artistic and cultural family as his father was a photographer. Jorge is best known for his mural work, as part of the Mexican muralist movement Mr. Camarena’s career began in 1930 when he was enrolled in the School of Mechanical and Electric Engineers and received a license as a radio operator. Guillermo worked at a radio station of the Ministry of Education or Secretary of Public Education for a period of time and later built a telescope. As a member of Mexico’s Astronomy Association he added to his growing list of accomplishments. Guillermo Camarena created his own TV Camera in 1934 at age seventeen and developed and patented Trichromatic Sequential Fields System from primary colors to give color to television when he was twenty-three. In 1935 he began his research on television, which had already been successfully tested in Berlin in 1931 by Von Ardene and Loewe.
