Should the United States put more restrictions on gun ownership and use?
No doubt, America is one of the most powerful countries and leads the world’s economic power, but there are still many social issues that cause numerous debates and are urgently needed to be solved. As an illustration, the increasing unemployment, racism, inequality and gun control. Especially, in the recent year, shooting accident happens frequently in the United States, which causes great concern about gun ownership and use in the whole society. Generally, there are two attitudes towards the gun control in the United States. On the one hand, some people firmly urge the government to restrict the gun ownership and gun rights, in order to avoid gun violence. On the other hand, plenty of people still want to protect their rights of owning guns. As far as I am concerned, there is no doubt that the United States should put more restriction on gun ownership and use.
Many people stress that they feel safer when carrying a gun or hiding it in the house. One of the reasons why they expect to own it is just to protect themselves from attacks or other accidents. If an accident happens, they can protect themselves and their property when they own a perfect self-defense tool. Though their thought is understandable and common, it gives the opportunities for the bad people to crime, which has caused severe damage to the society. Actually, from the whole perspective, gun brings more harm rather than more protection.
